A: Yes, we need you to complete a new application each year. Not only must we receive a fresh authorization to run your background, we need our spreadsheets to reflect your child(ren)'s current grade level and attendance zone. Thanks for coming back to coach again!
A: For the 2024 5-on5 Season, practices begin Monday, December 2, 2024. The first games take place Saturday, January 11, 2025, and Tournament Week takes place beginning Monday, February 24, 2025, through Saturday, March 1, 2025.

A: Eligibility to register for Katy Youth Basketball requires that all players must either:
A: 5-on-5 practices are twice a week for one hour. You could be scheduled for any day of the week except Wednesday. We attempt to place you at a local elementary school within 15 minutes of your home, but we cannot guarantee that will be the case. We will not refund your registration if you do not like the time, day, or location of your practice.
A. Yes. If the teachers are working the gyms are open! This applies to "teacher in service" days as well.
A: No. If the school is officially closed, we have no access to the gym for practice. For 5-on5, this means the Winter Break vacation for Katy ISD. Practice will resume at the beginning of the school year in the following calendar year.
A. No.
A: We are imperfect and must rely on things like years played, whether or not the player has been drafted previously, and parents' own evaluations of their child's basketball skill and athletic ability. When parents rate their children as "4" and they are really a "2," teams aren't formed the way they should be. It is neither an art nor a science. Despite HOURS and HOURS of effort, sometimes it comes down to luck. We make every effort to get it right but have limited data. When we see one team that is undefeated, one that hasn't won a game, and a bunch of other teams evenly distributed in between, we feel like we got pretty close. If every team has at least one loss or one win, well, that's a huge success.
